Healdsburg Senior Center
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Older Adult and Senior Services Response Plan
The City of Healdsburg is here to help our community through the COVID-19 health emergency. One of our focus areas is our senior and older adult community. The City’s Community Services Department has developed four programs to ensure our seniors and older adults are connected and have the essential supplies they need throughout this time. In addition, we are working to create opportunities for people to take care of one another. For more information, please visit www.cityofhealdsburg.org/covid19, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 707-431-3324.
Care Calls – Staying Connected and Checking In
Community Services staff will be contacting Senior Center Members, DASH Riders, and other individuals identified in need. Our team will complete a check-in form for each call to determine:
- General status
- Nutrition and medical needs
- Isolation plan, friends and family connections, etc.
- Emergency contact information
- Anything else significant
Calls will be an ongoing cycle to ensure each member receives periodic contact, and we’ll provide referrals or additional assistance. If you or someone you know would like a Care Call, please contact the Senior Center at 707-431-3324 or email@example.com.
Nutrition – Ensuring Food is Available
We will be working with local organizations to help ensure our senior and older adult community has healthy food during this time.
Meals on Wheels: We are working with Council on Aging, coordinator for the Meals on Wheels program. Council on Aging is converting their daily meal service to a 5-day frozen pack delivery.
Groceries to Go: We are also working with Redwood Empire Food Bank to prepare senior food baskets. The food baskets come with a variety of meats, vegetables, and canned goods. Details such as the frequency of deliver are still being worked out. Delivery will be done by City staff and will include a welfare check-in while maintaining physical distancing.
For more information please contact the Senior Center at 707-431-3324 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
DASH – Volunteer Driver Program
Our volunteer driver program is still operational with a few modifications:
- We are only providing essential rides
- Riders will be screened carefully prior to scheduling
- The driving service will be provided by City staff
- DASH vehicles will also be used for delivery of food and essential supplies
You can reach the DASH program at 707-431-3492.
Neighbors Network – Neighbors Helping Neighbors
The City will help coordinate people in need – along with organizations looking for volunteers – with individuals wanting to help. Examples of services we can coordinate through this program include:
- Shopping and errands
- Pet care assistance
- Minor home maintenance
- Social interaction (walks, talking on the phone, etc.)
- Referrals for other volunteer needs in the community
